Industrial Design
I'm passionate about designing well intentioned products that harmonize form with user experience. Over the years I have had the privilege to work on a tremendous variety of projects, from large industrial machines, to numerous digital products to personal items.

Detail design of the satellite microphone used in the SMART Room System. The design features a touch-sensitive mute button that echoes the overall use case where touch displays are used throughout the room scenario.
While at SMART I was the lead industrial designer for the Mobile Floor Stand. The project significantly reduced the cost and improved the user experience over the previous model.

Interactive writing implement concept
This design sketch was based on the idea of bringing the process of Gamestorming to an interactive multi-touch platform situation. It overcomes the existing paradigm where users have to wait to make their suggestions and allows for a more free-flowing use case.
The FROGMill CNC Router was designed at Streamline Automation around CNC routing of polystyrene foam. The large under-gantry clearance allows for the spindle to cut up to 10 inches deep. The machine can also use a rotary axis to cut. I was directly involved in the design of the hardware and software of the FROGMill, and it continues to be the industry choice of sculptors, enlargement studios, tool makers, prototypers and mold-makers around the world.

The FROGWire CNC hotwire foam-cutting machine was designed to compliment the FROGMill CNC router. The machine features independent axis controls that allow tapered cutting, and a rotary axis attachment.

These candle holders were created for a nightclub. The hand was modeled in ZBrush and Rhino. A master mold was 3D printed and then the pieces were molded in reinforced concrete. The molding was done in such a way as to make the length of each hand different.
A persona-based exploration in industrial design and interface design. The concept functions around a centrally located screen. For navigating the interface, a trackball and special buttons have been located on the phone beneath the dialing buttons.
Working from 3D scans, reference images and CAD software, I provided modeling and color recommendations for the Digital Orca sculpture by Douglas Coupland. The finished piece is located adjacent to the Vancouver Convention Centre.
